Drupal 4.7.0 Release Candidate 4 available

The Drupal team has released the fourth release candidate of Drupal 4.7. Several new critical issues came up since RC3, but were quickly fixed. We also took advantage of the extended development time to get some more last-minute usability improvements in.

Again we invite you to help us test this latest release candidate, so that Drupal 4.7.0 final can be out soon. Drupal 4.7 RC4 can be downloaded at http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/drupal/files/projects/drupal-4.7.0-rc4.tar.gz.

Release Notes

While we are confident in the stability of this release, remember to make complete backups of your website and database before upgrading. As always, you can find essential installation instructions in INSTALL.txt and UPGRADE.txt. More detailed guides are posted in the Installation and Configuration handbook.

If you maintain a contributed module or theme, it is definitely time to ensure your contribution works with Drupal 4.7. The Module Upgrading Guide and Theme Upgrading Guide contain a list of all required changes. Make sure there are no last-minute changes that you missed. Make sure your module is properly branched in the Contributions Repository so that it correctly shows up as 4.7-compatible on the downloads page.

If you do find any bugs in this release, you can report them in the Drupal issue tracker. Please take the time to search for existing issues before posting any new ones. Finally, remember to supply detailed and accurate information with your report, so it can be resolved as soon as possible.

Keep up the great work guys. Theres a lot of code in the system and a lot of folks out there with all sorts of configurations of servers, operating systems and browsers. It is not an easy task. Thanks to all of you superstars who stay up all night trying to debug this stuff.

Great!

vincent - April 28, 2006 - 20:19

Always nice to see something coming up...Just installed it.
The upgrade did not work since my source installation had a prefix for the tables...the upgrade script does not seem to take that into account.
Also it sounds like the PRCE module of my hosters' PHP is outdated....oh! well!

And..what happened to the comment box on here! I can resize it! Awsome!

I don't think it has to do

Juanzo - April 28, 2006 - 20:29

I don't think it has to do with your prefix. Seems to me there are no database modifications on this RC.

hi vincent.

I'm getting that prce error as well...did you find a workaround? or did you manage to get your host to upgrade?

Umm huh what? You'd have to

sepeck - April 28, 2006 - 23:28

Umm huh what? You'd have to look at the CVS commits between the RC3 and RC4 releases. My guess is that they are verbage, explanation and minor tweaks.

I just downloaded and installed RC3, over an RC2 install last night!!! And a Virgin install of RC on another domain. If I were still a drinking lady, this would be a good time............

I was gearing up for a Friday night filing a couple of bugs, but now I'll upgrade and see if they're still there.

Thanks for all the work, everyone!

Beautiful!

robhamm - April 29, 2006 - 21:28

Just upgraded two of my sites (01 Project: Syberfang and everything except the front page of Blue Crash Kit) with no issues at all. Looking forward to the final release! Is RC4 faster, or am I imagining things (again)?

You need to bunzip2 the patch.bz2 file to read it. (Sorry, this was meant to be a reply to the post about the patch, but the reply/login button made it a new post)
