I am wondering if it's possible to utilize Drupal's api functions for getting the IP address (ip_address()) and referrer ( ($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']) ) for a downloaded file and also be available in views?

I noticed that the Download Count module is utilizing that and wondering if the same thing could be utilized here. Thanks.
