I went through all of the suggestions found here:

And I think that it is public for all, though I am not sure.. It seems a little buggy trying to log out and view as an anonymous user. That being said, no matter how I set the public permissions, on the edit page it will not let me include it into the sitemap and gives me the following

XML SITEMAP
This item is not currently visible to anonymous users, so it will not be included in the sitemap.

and if I go to Gallery Assist>>Gallery Assist>>Assignments>>settings overview

I see

Public status: 2
Admin public status:

What is admin public status? and where is the option to change it? Is this what xml sitemaps is finding, and also the reason that the thumbnails dont' want to load when not logged in?

Well, if someone else stumbles upon this, you might wanna have a look at this: http://drupal.org/node/690120. You get this message after you create the node and as soon as you edit the node and save the changes this warning message will disappear.
