First of all this is a great module and it's what I have been looking for creating real time (live) Update system for site users.

However, I have an issue, I am not using the default appbar view to show the alerts, I am using a custom view to show alerts to the users. Everything works fine except after viewing the list of alerts, the user still get that he/she has new alerts. The alert count never resets back to zero (0) and it keep giving the total number of alerts as the number of new ones.

I tried clearing the cache, log out and log in... but it never changes...

Yes.

This has been a problem since I added the ability to switch views. It's been on my to-do list for several months.

I played around for half a day trying to get alerts to work. When there are alerts present, the appbar_alerts area shows the count. When clicked, it's blank (not even a title bar with minimize icon as the other appbar modules have). Also as the alerts are viewed the count returns to zero, but ajax updates and the count returns. For now, I've disabled the alerts function of appbar. Let me know if you need any data from my end. I'm using the default view.

Not going to fix this in 6.x-2.x and the alerts system has been removed in the D7 branch.
