Issue Summary
It would be nifty if the various web browsers were automatically configured with a set of Drupal links and search plugins.
A little googling has not revealed a simple way to do this programmatically.

Looked at using http://bookmarkbridge.sourceforge.net/ for this, but it didn't seem to actually work for me (from either the GUI or command line). Attached is my WIP xbel file, in case anyone else wants to give this a try.

Another option that just came to mind would be to just create shortcut web links (launchers) on the users toolbar or desktop.

That wouldn't be a bad fallback, but one of the things I'd really like to facilitate is custom search engines/keywords. I use them all the time in both Chrome and Firefox. Having that automated would be really slick.
Is the idea of using Bookmarkbridge that it has command-line tools for creating/synching bookmarks?
