Custom Fields not displaying HTML

I recently upgraded to 4.7.x-1.0 and the custom fields no longer renders HTML as code instead it renders it as text. Not a huge deal however it was awful handy to use the custom fields for links and this is no longer possible.

Further a possibly related issue is that I end up with the text
tacked onto the end of each of my custom fields.
