I was having issues with 'Add to Cart' button replacement with ubercart-2.4 so I upgraded to uc_out_of_stock-1.x-dev version and it fixed this problem. However, I'm not a huge fan of the throbber showing up for each individual product. Its easy enough to disable this in uc_out_of_stock.css but it might be nice if this was part of the "Out of Stock settings" UI.

I can't believe that people hate the throbber. Anyway, I added this feature as I have quite a few issues about it.
