A while back I wrote a custom node for Drupal 4.6 for uploading flash content to a site. I have finally gotten around to upgrading the code for 4.7!

The code appears to be working ok, but it's my first 4.7 upgraded module...

If you want to find out more, or give the module a try, you can find out more on my site.

Basically, flash node, as I have called it, is designed to make uploading and display of flash really easy, and it uses unobtrusive js to do its stuff. You can either just upload the flash in the node itself, which I found is fine for 99% of what I do with it, but it also has a macro facility so you can re-use Flash content in other nodes, and change the size etc.

There's an example of Flash inserted using a macro running at the link to the module.

Any feedback welcome!

Sounds awesome, but with drupal 5 around the corner, are you planning the upgrade for that?

I've had a busy year - new house, new baby, new job, so I got behind in porting this to 4.7, but it will go to 5 too - hopefully a bit quicker than it got to 4.7!

Good job, Stuart - keep us posted as to your progress for 5.0!

I looked at the code and it looks like it will likely work for 5.0. It should just need the creation of a .info file and a confirmation that all of the hooks work the same way they used to. I might be wrong, but I don't see anything obviously wrong. The most recent module I wrote for 5.0, I was able to port to 4.7 in about 10 minutes.

Now Christmas is out the way I'm hoping to find the time to do this! I had a look at the upgrade handbook pages and it didn't sound too bad...

Ten minutes would be nice!

I've finished the the version of flash node for Drupal 5. It didn't seem to take too long at all in the end - it was just finding the time to do it that was hard!

The new module is available for download from my site.

This module is now a Drupal project and is available from the Flash node project page.
