Like Pushbutton, Garland includes a background image that covers up content. I tried removing the picture and even changing the background color of the offending element to transparent, but to no avail.
Adding "clear: left;" to #comments was the key because Flatforum floats the first post to the left.
The colors I put in Flatforum's css allow the color module to affect the styling of the comments. Color preserves the saturation and luminance of the colors in the stylesheet, so the default grey will always be grey. All of the colors in the template style.css are the same as those for the Blue Lagoon style, so I suggest that any customizations be based on that. Whether this should be documented in README.txt isn't my decision, though I might see if the Garland maintainers are mentioning that anywhere.
