Suggestion required on drupal node

Hi All,

I am working on a Drupal application. The existing application is having different content types for example
product.In the current scenario there is a content type product with some fields added by drupal admin panel. User fill the information and page get saved.

But now i want to divide the product add process in two steps.Instead of one step.And there would be lots of design customization and some other tricks as well.

So please let me know the best possible approach and if possible please reffer some articles or tutorials.

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appriciated.
