Stomper suggests that I make this a separate issue, so here it is.

I would like to create "stores" that are truly standalone (much like a store that rents space in a mall is standalone). Two requirements:

(1) Direct payment from buyer to seller (and not the the site taking a commission on sales)

(2) Defaulting "Ship From" address to the store (and not the site)

So far as I can tell, neither are in possible in marketplace right now. Am I wrong?

All the order tracking, and fulfillment functionality could stay the same. I just don't want the site to be the middleman in the transactions.

UPDATE If this functionality doesn't exist in marketplace, I'd be happy to tackle a module if I could get a few pointers on the hooks to think about.

subscribing, I would love this feature.

Also make sure it works nice with the domain module, then each store can have its own website.
P.S With the domain module and ubercart domain module you can have the functionality you describe but not all stores in one domain, I have this type of setup currently running on live sites.
