Auth user can not delete his own comment

Description

Not sure if it is a bug report or a feature request, since I can't compare to 4.7 right now, but it does not seem that an authenticated user can delete his own comment.
When the default access control rules for authenticated user are:
[x] access comments
[ ] administer comments
[x] post comments
[x] post comments without approval
then the auth user can certainly edit his own comments, but not delete them.
If "administer comments" is set:
[x] administer comments
then the auth user can indeed delete his own comments, but all other users' comments as well (including root), which seems a little too strong.

It does seem logical that the rules that allow the auth user to edit his comments should also allow him to delete them. Was it the case in 4.7, or was it left out in 5.0 (bug)?

THanks

I asked in IRC channel and merlinofchaos confirmed the behaviour is by design.

Is the delete option available in D6?
My site users have been asking for this feature. IS there a workaround or an additional module which allows to provide the same?
