I started studying Drupal a month ago. I got my website www.mathpotd.org (K12 Math Problem of the Day) running today. It has been a very exciting experience. I think Drupal is a great system and people here really make a great community.
I have been a Java programmer for many years – I don’t think there is such a thing in Java World. Hosting a Java application may be much more difficult and expensive. I do miss a lot of things I got used to in Java world. But now I have felt pretty comfortable with PHP through a month’s experience.
I hope I can learn more and really make my website one of interesting one that kids will like.

Using xajax
I used Xajax module http://drupal.org/node/29035 with my own code. If others are interested, I may contribute the code later. I ran into some gliches to make the module work (and got the same problem with flexinode module) in a web server clustering env (I figured out how it could be resolved) -- but I think it'll work well without problems in a non-clustering env.
