Hi,
I have finally put my birthdays module for you to use here:
http://www.davidgildeh.com/projects/birthdays
However, the reason it is not on an official projects page in Drupal.org is because I've had no repsonse regarding a problem I've had creating a new project. Basically, there is already a birthdays folder in CVS which has been empty for ages, I think I requested it ages ago. However, some other project apparently is using it, as everytime I try to create a project it tells me another project is using this folder. I've e-mailed the admin at Drupal.org and got no reply on this, if anyone can help me sort this out it would be much appreciated, and if you have the folder reserved for your own project (its been empty for a year now!) please can you contact me asap!
Anyway, main features are:
- A block of upcoming users birthdays (currently next 6)
- A page list of all the user's birthdays
- Displays user's star sign, and hooks into Yahoo Horoscopes
- A display of the user's birthday/current age/starsign on the user's profile
- Automatically e-mails administrator with upcoming birthdays in a certain number of days (currently 7)
- Automatically e-mails user on their birthday
- If the postcard module is installed, will automatically create an e-card to send them on their birthday (this requires the postcard module from: http://drupal.org/project/postcard)
Still lots of things to do on this, this is just a first release to get it out there. I've been using it on my own personal site for a while now and it seems to work OK but there are a couple of issues that need to be addressed.
Any feedback would be great.
Thanks,
Drazzig

Looks nice
I've recently created a birthday module myself and was planning to upload it but this one has much more functions. However I used the profile module so you may want to look at my source and see if you can implement some of the code.

great stuff
This module looks great and can provide yet another way to get that nice cosy community feeling!
Hope you can have that CVS problem fixed soon!
Regarding your CVS problems.
Regarding your CVS problems. The "birthday" CVS folder has "stuff" in it:-
http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/drupal/contributions/modules/birthday/?onl...
But it seems to be tagged "drop" and there are no DRUPAL-4-x tags applied. "Drop" suggests the module has been dropped and has been for some time.
As far as I can tell, that old module/code is owned by user osoh who hasn't been active for a long time (and his contact tab is switched off).
If you want to take this over send an email to infrastructure@drupal.org explaining this (and referencing this forum post) and ask if you can take this over. Don't forget to include your own Drupal.Org username in the email you send as well.
Thanks
Thanks for the great feedback and info on getting this issue sorted. I will e-mail them and see how far I get!

Sorry... I'm back
First of all, I must apologize for my long time far away from drupal (personal reasons). Sorry for the inconvenience.
I've completely rewritten my old birthday module (for Drupal 4.X) and I tried to get it working with Drupal 5.X as soon as posible. Of course, I'll have to change the name.
See ya!
Looks great - problems with Postcards?
The module looks great and I'm keen to try it out, but I can't get postcards to work as it's pre-4.7 (the project page says it's 4.5?!?!)
