This is a significant update of the Payment API. The main features included in this version are:

• Support for Transaction States: Each transaction is always in a particular state, whether it's "Pending," "Active", "Completed" or "Canceled."
• Support for payment actions: The API now supports an extensible mechansim for defining and executing payment actions, such as 'authorize', 'complete', 'cancel' and 'delete'.
• Support for Drupal actions - the above-mentioned actions can be executed by Drupal through the Actions API or using the VBO module.
• Support for a sitewide currency selection. Please see #932666 for history and roadmap.

We've also fixed a lot of bugs, refactored some code, and added some refinements. Please give this release a try!

IMPORTANT: All payment method handlers have been removed from this release. This means that you must download and install one of the following modules before you can accept payments:

• Authorize.Net
• Payflow Pro
• Paypal

Porting these to separate projects will allow other maintainers to help support them, provide separate usage tracking statistics, and provide a model for the development of new payment methods we'd be unable to adequately support. See http://drupal.org/node/931742 for some background.

This release expands the form-handling capabilities of the original pay element, and adds some exciting new functionality:

* A pay_node sub-module, which provides the ability to attach existing payment forms to nodes, or to create a new payment form for each newly-created node. This is useful for pledge drives, contextualized giving forms, purchasing a service, etc.
* Actions and triggers support, which allows you to e.g. send confirmation messages upon payment.
* A pay_progress sub-module, which displays progress towards a particular goal
* Lots of new views handlers and updated views functionality
* Access control on payment forms and payment methods
* Updated and bug-fixed pay_donate module
