I installed the Sitemenu module. I just want a basic sitemap. My problem is I have not used and categories in building my site (taxonomy). It is all just page creations linked to menus. Can I use sitemenu to show all my linked pages without creating categories. Going back and creating categories with descriptions seems like a lot of redundant work.
Any ideas?

Can someone check out my site. Particularly the sitemap link. I have Sitemenu installed but not done. I have not used taxonomy on this site and I know that sitemenu relies on taxonomy.
The site is only about 35 pages with all links on the homepage. I have read that having a sitemap is good for google. As you can see, my site is primarily categorized by block: "Party Topics", "Party Supplies", and "Gift Ideas". All the links are on the homepage in blocks.
To what benefit would a sitemenu be? It seems to me that my categories (vocabulary) would just be the same as my block titles with the same links under them.

I think you're OK for now,
I think you're OK for now, but Sitemenu allows you to have cleverly nested sub-menus -- e.g. not just "Food", but "Food > Cake" and "Food > Ice Cream". This becomes important as you expand your content and need to keep it accessible to users.

I have a few thousand nodes and I use sub and sub-sub categories to keep everything organized. Without it, there'd be chaos.
The site map is a completely different concept. It does help some users, but is primarily done to help search engines find and index remote pages. It's worth doing in both html and XML format. Drupal modules exist for both.
