no, did not resolve my problem. removed the custom block from the TOP-utilitie-menu region and filled that region with a one-item-menu that i had created in drupal menu section. same problem remains though ...

on a completely fresh re-installation of D7 NOW everything in Marinelli seems to look good, at least the SEARCH BOX now looks great. but will be funny in the process of testing more modules again to see what will cause the problem i described above

yes, obviously there's a module in the list that breaks the search positioning. I am slowly activating modules now, when I list this out which one it seems to be, i will report here
