Is it possible to restrict what roles are displayed to different users?

anon, authenticated, and admin would never be shown.

A member of role1 and role2 would only be able to select one of those roles.

A member of role3 would only be able to select role3.

The default settings for all other roles would be set up by the admin for each content type. As in, View would be be enabled by default.

So far as I can it isn't currently possible to do what I want to.

If I created a patch to make it possible, would the patch get rolled into the module?
