jon betts commentedUpdated typo in title.
Comment #2
scroogie commentedHi,
these are actually two seperate issues. First, the tabledrag doesn't work because there is a small mistake in Node Gallery. The patch is here: #1023968: Sort tabledrag broken
Second, Rubik/Tao does not interfere with the jquery ui sorting. I just tried that out and it's working flawlessly. Perhaps you have other modules that interfere, such as jquery_update, or you use a newer version of jquery_ui?

jon betts commented@scroogie, Thanks for looking into this! It was jquery_update! I disabled it and the sort is working fine. I don't think I _need_ to have the update so this works fine. I'll look into the patch as well; however the draggable sort is hard to beat UX-wise.
Comment #4
scroogie commentedThanks for the feedback. I would try to make it compatible with jquery_update, but as there are so many bugs in Drupal and other modules with it, I don't know if it merits the effort.
Comment #5
justintime commentedSpoke with @scroogie about this a bit. We will either make our sort work with AND without jquery_update module (fairly unlikely), or alert the admin about the incompatability in admin/reports/status (much more likely).
Comment #6
scroogie commentedMhm, weird. It actually works. I just tried it out with jquery_update 2.x and jquery_ui, which means jquery 1.3.2 and jqueryUI 1.7.3. No errors, sorting works as expected.
I assume that people with problems have a version of UI that doesn't fit to the version of jquery. For example using juery 1.3.2 with jquery UI 1.6 won't work. Unfortunately there is no way we can check that, or even solve problems with that.
Comment #7
mshepherd commentedI've also got it working with the combination at #6
Comment #8
jon betts commentedI wasn't using jquery_update 2.x as it isn't a recommended release yet, so that probably has something to do with it. Thanks for looking into this further. It's good to know it works with a updated version.
Comment #9
scroogie commentedglowsinthedark, just to clarify: you should never use a newer jquery UI without a corresponding jquery! They are specifically suited at one another.
Comment #10
jon betts commentedscroogie, thanks! Is there any particular clue as to which version goes with which? For example, the two versions above have no version number parity and they aren't current with what is available. Just curious. It makes perfect sense that they would need to be at the same level, but figuring out the levels hasn't made sense to me yet.

Comment #12
scroogie commentedI always use the following as rule of thumb, although some minor versions are compatible to other minor versions.
jquery 1.2 -> jquery UI 1.6
jquery 1.3 -> jquery UI 1.7
jquery 1.4 -> jquery UI 1.8

jon betts commented@ justintime and @scroogie, thanks very much! This is very helpful and much appreciated!
Comment #15
dddave commentedI've hammered together a short help text about this problem. Please review.
@justintime, scroogie
Could I simply put this .txt file into the dropbox folder or do I need to use a specific format?
edit: marked #1091202: Manual Sorting of images fails as a dupe.
Comment #16
scroogie commentedThe best is to use simple HTML formatting, e.g. h2 for headlines, p for paragraphs and ul and li for itemized lists.
I commited your help text to git with the missing HTML, you can take that or the other help files as an example.
Thanks!
Comment #17
dddave commentedThanks for committing and adding the html.
Re-closing the issue.
