Drupal - "This User Agent is a known bot."?

I was a little stunned to read this at
http://www.botsvsbrowsers.com/details/48718/index.html

Excerpt...

This User Agent is a known bot. First Seen On: 10/19/2006 2:32:00 AM
URL: http://drupal.org/

Maybe there's an explanation?

Cheers

Of Course

If you use the aggreator module, drupal has to fetch the RSS feed from whatever website. That string is the user-agent that it sends when it fetches.

What's the problem?

Technically, it is a bot, if you have cron configured it'll poll the RSS feed whenever cron is run. Therefore, it's a "bot" as such. It's not necessarily a bad thing.

We're in good company

Don't worry. This is normal web-speak for distinguishing between web browsers with meat sitting behind them and programs using HTTP to interact with web servers automatically.
