We desperately need a viable Drupal 7 photo gallery solution, or management will not allow us to use Drupal 7 for our monumental project and instead force us to use Joomla. So far I've tried a solution that requires the following plugins...
• Media
• Media Gallery
• Entity API
• Styles
• Multiple Forms
...and in the end, it doesn't work. All these modules are either dev, alpha, or beta, and apparently something just isn't ready for prime time.
Is there a polished photo gallery solution for Drupal 7 that just "works?" Please help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi, Ahh, the boss, the will
Hi,
Ahh, the boss, the will insist on being, well, the boss, gotta give 'em what they want! :)
I'm trying to get this to work...
http://www.lullabot.com/articles/photo-galleries-views-attach
It's a tutorial for Drupal 6, but, theoretically you can get the right modules for D7, the only trouble is Views Attach, which is claiming there's an upgrade patch, the patch worked fine, so far I've not been able to fool Drupal into thinking it's for its version. Fixed the info file, don't know where else to look for version setting.
It does look like a sweet solution, if Views Attach can be convinced to work, I need sleep now, I'll be in touch if I have an joy.
Good luck to us!

Got it!
Hello, me again,
I've got a lovely gallery working in D7, the Gallery Formatter will work, if you tinker around with it, there's no documentation, as the guy who's producing it doesn't really want people using it yet.
http://drupal.org/project/galleryformatter
There's a screencast, it threw me a bit, because it first says you need to edit the field, this is only the case for the D6 version it turns out, just make one image field in your gallery content type, then go to 'Manage Displays', select jQuery Gallery' from the drop down menu. The default settings are working fine for me. Then all I had to do is upload some images & hey presto, a really sweet, smooth & pretty sexy gallery. It's all slidey-that-way & fadey-in-&-out. It's awesome :) Now I've just gotta figure out the localisation...!
Hope you haven't had to go with something else by now!

Nice one
This is great, managed to get it working but I have one question. You'll have to forgive me because I'm quite the newb, but when I'm uploading the pictures I don't get a "description" dialogue box. Any Ideas?
where to upload images?
hi!
how did you upload the images? from where?
Ive created an image field in my gallery content type and in manage displays selected jQuery Gallery. But then how to upload?
_
The same as in d6-- create a node of your gallery content type and the imagefield will be there.
Galleryformatter
Need some help here please.
For weeks I'm trying to realise a gallery in D7 without any luck.
I even got stuck on the Galleryformatter. I installed the module but how to upload images and how to show the gallery?
Would appreciate some tips here. Thanks.
gallery with d 7
same problem; Drupal 7 is really a nightmare in this matter !
It's working for me.
Everything I need to do with colorbox is working for me. I'm able to create my own basic photo galleries very easily. I haven't tried larger gallery modules—just the built-in stuff with colorbox. Love it. My problem before was simply caused by not having the Colorbox JavaScript in the right location.
I would like to tray this
I would like to tray this photo gallery also could you please tell me how is the colorbox JavaScript has to be located. I am not a webdeveloper
photo gallery
finally with views, formatter, colobox, galleriffic and jquery gallery, i have done that i wanted with drupal 7
GalleryFormatter worked like a charm!
You don't need a lot of customization to have a basic photo gallery with GalleryFormatter in Drupal 7. The process is simple:
1) Download GalleryFormatter module: http://drupal.org/project/galleryformatter
2) Unzip and upload the files to the modules folder on your server.
3) Like an admin on your Drupal Installation:
- Enable the module.
- Go to structure, Content types.
- Create a new content type.
- Add a new field.
- Edit the field and select your personal configuration. Just select ILLIMITED on Number o values or select a limited number of images for a gallery.
- On the Presentation options, select JQuery Gallery in the FORMAT option.
4) With this steps, it has to be all you need to start using this great gallery.
Sorry If I have some problems with the translation, I have a Spanish installation and dont remember the exact name of all the options. I hope will be clear for all of you !
Greetings and good luck!
please "Edit the field and
please
"Edit the field and select your personal configuration. Just select ILLIMITED on Number o values or select a limited number of images for a gallery.
- On the Presentation options, select JQuery Gallery in the FORMAT option."
where do I select ILLIMITED, and where is the the presentation options?
how do I tell drupal o place the slideshow on a specific page?
regards
More specific
I will try to be more specific. I changed my language installation to english, I hope this will help.
Most of the configuration is on STRUCTURE/CONTENT TYPES where I created a new content type (Gallery).
On the content types LIST, you will see your new content type (Gallery) with 3 options:
EDIT / MANAGE FIELDS / MANAGE DISPLAY
You can select EDIT to manage the general options for this type of content.
If you select MANAGE FIELDS, you will find the galery field for the images. Select the EDIT option for this field, and you will find the unllimited option with another ones like image sizes, etc.
If you select MANAGE DISPLAY, you wil find the "Jquery Gallery" format option. You can select the edit option for more options.
With this configuration Drupal will create a gallery and will place it like a new publication. It is not intented to add a gallery to an article or page. the advantage is that it has a field to add content, that way this is like a regular article with a gallery inside, both are displayed with teaser on your main page (you can modify this).
I hope this explanation helps.
Greetings Memoskins
Thanks for trying ...
... but the instructions do not fit what I see on the pages after installing and enabling the module ....
The instructions work fine until here
"select your personal configuration. Just select ILLIMITED on Number o values or select a limited number of images for a gallery.
- On the Presentation options, select JQuery Gallery in the FORMAT option."
Then it doesn't fit at all.
Thanks, Jim
no green arrows, no colorbox
OK I used your tips and that was helpful to set up a gallery, but I can't see green arrows, there is no fluent transition between images and colorbox seems like it doesn't work at all.
Any ideas (Drupal 7.7)

$node->body[$node->language] is a empty array
I'm checking if the following patch (http://drupal.org/node/1815710) to translation managment module already exist, when I came across your post.
If the body is empty, then $node->body[$node->language] is a empty array.
