No profile fields when using Form Block: user registration form

I use the Form Block module to place my registration in the sidebar on several sites.

This module looks like a great slim alternative to the semi-bloated process of dealing with Content Profile, however the user registration block and Profile Role don't seem to play nice.

I've tried setting the profile group for no roles, a user created role, anonymous user role, and authenticated user role... none of which allow the fields to be present in the user registration form block.

Assuming that the way Form Block builds the block conflicts with the way Profile Role restricts fields.

PS: made sure to clear my cache between each role test.
