After images are attached and node form is saved, this error is generated:

"The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename."

And, the slideshow controls appear (previous | # of images | next), but no images.

However, Drupal message confirms creation of each image, and the images are stored in the designated sytem/files/* directory...which has proper read/write permissions. And, if you edit the node and simply save it again, no error is generated and the slideshow images appear.

On some tests, when editing the node again, all images were gone (no longer attached).
