Hey everyone,
Please come and visit our new site. We've been working on it for about 6 months, and I'm very happy with our first beta.
It's http://www.dianovo.com - a social network for green and conscious living!
It's built using Drupal 4.7.3, and I must say that I LOVE Drupal. It is such a pleasure to work with, and this community is the most professional and helpful open source community that I have ever been a part of.
Please come join, and let me know what you think. Any critiques and suggestions welcome. And, please let me know of any bugs you find.
Check out the ability to choose your user picture from an image that you upload to your gallery. This is a module that I'm working on that I'll be contributing back to the community once completed. For now, you can choose a photo as your main photo when you upload or edit an image. I'm hoping to integrate a link under the thumbnails in a member's gallery as well.
thanks and peace,

Nice site, but some problems with IE7
Nice site overall :)
I like the photo gallery and the loading effect.
I did encounter some show stopping bugs on IE7. The worst of them being the top menu drop downs not showing properly. I guess some time and effort needs to be spent in the browser compatibility department but overall, an excellent site.
Keep up the good work!

thanks!
Thanks BioALIEN!
The galleries are done with views, and the loading effect is courtesy of the thickbox module.
I believe I have the IE7 menu problem fixed with some css. I just checked and it looks fine, please let me know if you are still seeing problems. (don't forget to shift refresh to get the latest version of css)

great concept
I loved your site and I'm sending the link to a bunch of my friends that I know will also love it. Like the other poster said though, I had trouble getting the menu's to work in IE 6.

squashing bugs
Thanks a lot Lisa! I appreciate your encouraging words. This site is my focus right now, and it means a lot to me.
I believe I have all of the bugs out with ie6 and ie7 at this point. Things seem to be working smoothly. Please let me know if you spot anything else.
And, thanks for spreading the word about Dianovo.com! We intend for Dianovo.com to be more than just a social network. It's about taking the knowledge and information that we learn and share, and applying it to our individual lives in the form of change, change that will help ourselves, those around us, and ultimately have a global impact.
Please message me on Dianovo.com when you join.

How...?
How did you make a home page that lets you move the blocks around? I didn't think Drupal was capable of that. Most impressive.
drag and drop home page
Thanks Lisa for confirming that things work in IE6 now.
Thanks ronoxQ. The home page is created with the code from http://aymanh.com/drag-drop-portal-interface-with-scriptaculous
I did a little bit of customizing to make it fit better within our theme, but it is essentially the same code. I know that ayman who created that is working with merlinofchaos to integrate the drag and drop functionality with the panels module for 5.0. - http://drupal.org/node/87120

Thanks for the link! So it's basically just moving the code to a Drupal page? Or are you taking existing nodes and blocks and displaying them?
it's already a drupal module
Hey ronoxQ,
There's a link on that page to the drupal module that ayman created. Just install it and you're good to go. There's a settings page where you choose which of your Drupal blocks you want to be available.

But...
The download link doesn't work. I get an "empty archive" error.
nice work! I like all
nice work! I like all frontpage and everything you've done with the profiles. Looks like you modified the CSS for the members page. Wanted to second the personal galleries. The best way that I have found to do personal galleries is with views.

great work
i love the theme--since im a partial tree.hugga from portland oregon ;)...
everything loaded fast and the template is amazing...did you cusomize the img gallery yourself or is that a free mod ....?
dianovo? dia=through? novo?
out of curiosity
very nice but ...
... could you lose the splash screen ...
apart from that it looks lovely :)
good stuff.
mike,
Check out booktribes social networking for book lovers
splash screens are ok, if...
I'd say splash screens are ok as long as they include all the contact into, etc on them.
Also, you might want to use a different picture of the earth than the one you use on your welcome page (http://www.dianovo.com/files/layout/welcome.jpg) -- I am pretty sure that's the image of Hurricane Andrew attacking the US. I know it looks nice, but it may not be the most positive image.
lovely design
I think it's a lovely design but I have two suggestions from my own tastes:
1. I'd like to see how it looks with more subtle drop shadows for both the blocks in the header and for the input fields. (about 50% as 'big' and 50% as dark)
2. the large area on the home page is a little challenging to read because of the way the images are mixed in with the words, but not a big problem.
Looks like you put a lot of work into it. Great job!
Re: Social Network
I had a chance to look at your site. It is well designed. I would like to do the same thing. I was playing with Joomla for a few weeks now. The CMS is pretty good. But for wat I want to do, I don't know if I have the skills necessary to customize either Joomla or Drupal to do the job. Basically, what I want to do is to build a social network for several communities at least 500 with the ability for members to create their own communities.
For the last 3 weeks, I have been doing a lot of research on the internet and I found several apps. Some are open source some ar not not. But all of them require heavy customization. I am looking for some advice. I am going to install a product made by phpfox just to see how it is. But I'm not sure if the product is scalable. Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
