after adding about twenty five books to six 'book' nodes this evening, I made one fatal error:

in attempting to edit the pages concerned directly from the node/admin/book interface, with the result that all the attached asin's disappear!!

I recreated the error... it might also happen if editing from the content menu... I will also try that and report

further observation: I tried adding the ASIN's to the "log message" input box, just as a back up, in case the ASIN's got 'lost' again, but in doing so I discovered the the "log message" won't contain text... as soon as the node is submitted then re-edited, the log message text is gone...

but is that an issue with this module or an aspect of Drupal core... ?

The log message thing is core...basically it useful if you use revisions. The ASIN vanishing is bizarre. It never occurred to me to add a node to a book.

I didn't add the nodes directly to the drupal-book, (an interesting idea though...); I added the ASIN's to book pages that will include Amazon-Review (type) nodes as child-pages.

When I tried to edit the book pages, containing the ASIN's within the "Related books" comma-delimited box that the Amazon module allows to be added to any drupa node.

ASIN's added to that Related Book list disappear, when choosing to edit the pages directly from node/admin/book interface.

I hope that's a bit clearer.
