How can I set a global menu in my drupal site as if it was a traditional hierachical-paged old-fashioned website?
I see that I could make all the links by hand in a new menu, but I would like to make it automatic. I like the simple concept behind modx cms. I understand it's not a feature suitable for a community oriented website, but I like so much drupal that I would like to use it also for my "very normal" and easy to control websites.
Thanks

You might be interested in taxonomy menu.... you basically assign each page a taxonomy value which corresponds to the directory you want it to be in....

It doesn't seem to work as I need it. It doesn't mantain the uniqueness of urls (because it is always possible navigate to it both through "root.com/parent/child" and "root.com/child") and because it put togheter all the descendant pages when users clicks on a parent page.
I hope I am wrong and there is some settings option or a workaround to that.
Thanks so much.
Autopath module
Please check autopath module. It lets you decide aliases for all URLs. Multiple options available.
book module
Build your site using the book module and that will give you the automatic hierarchy and menu you are looking for. You can also do this with menu module. If you have appropriate rights you can also add a page to a given existing menu at the time of content creation.
This thread also has some variations on sites that are traditionally in the sphere you are looking at.

Is Taxonomy Menu the solution?
...
My reading is he's looking for a corporate brochure style site. Nodes/page/stories linked in the a menu. Individual pages, not categories.
