Best way for D7?

Hi Crell,

Just interested in your take on whether updating this cute little module to D7 is worth it, or whether any of your functions here has a better core alternative in D7?

Also wondered about the module keeping a whitelist of what elements would be "componentized" to address some of the concerns about access control. Too painful for a tiny helper module?
