This may not be an issue with media but puzzling none the less.
I have as odd bug. I have one installation of d7 that plays local and youtube video files fine with mediaelement.js using a media field type video.
It was built up from previous dev versions of the core and modules.
I just installed a new installation using current modules, everything is the same. and I get errors with the media, mediaelements and styles.
Youtube video attached with media field and browser work fine in teaser and full node view.
Local video files uploaded with media field browser show a missing icon in both teaser and full node view... The link goes to sites/default/files/styles/large/public/.. and there is no file there.
yet this same exact configuration works on a different drupal install.
I double checked all my field settings, display options etc.. they seem to be the same for both site installs.
If I manually put in the missing linked file to the directory sites/default/files/styles/large/public/. Still no player and it shows a missing icon. But If I open that link of the missing icon directly in a new window it will open the mp4 file in a browser default player.
I have set my $base_url on and off with still no effect.
Tried with many browser configs, flash, silverlight on and off, iPad..
Same issues.
Any ideas or has anyone else ran into this?
The file type is an mp4 and it has been added to media>media_types>video allowed extensions.

kbm065 commentedI have the same problem. My local video file is not displaying, everything is installed as it should be.
Is there some kind of video player included in Styles and Media?

cartagena commentedI've got a similar problem. I am using MediaFront and OSM player. Youtube videos were working but then they stopped. I can see that the thumbnail is no longer landing in files/youtube-media but going directly into files. And the content type is no longer youtube media but application/octet or something similar. I must have changed a setting somewhere but haven't a clue. If I get it working again I'll let you know. In the meantime any light shed on the issue would be appreciated!

JacobSingh commentedThere is no player included in styles or media and won't be... Styles 2.0 introduced totally new code which still has a lot of bug to shake out I think. I'm sending this issue over there to hopefully get some resolution from aaron since he wrote the original code for this (thumb extraction) and the new styles code. It would help to specify which versions of everything is being used and if this is reproducible with -dev versions of everything.
