Text Review uses so-called defusers to ignore certain parts of a text, such as punctuation, HTML tags, or, in this case, Markdown. I'd like to add such a defuser to Markdown.module, which would probably only be a couple dozen lines. Will such a feature be accepted?

This sounds like it is outside the scope of what should be handled with Markdown, but I may be misunderstanding the described functionality. I would gladly review again if more detail is provided. A patch with the 12 or so lines would be helpful.
