I am trying to modify some of the logic from another 3rd party module's hook_block function. Is it possible to override their hook_block function with my own in my own module? Can I specify the block module and delta somehow to let drupal know which block I want to alter? I just need to alter what happens with the view of it. I can alter the theming of the result in the template.php file, but was wanting abit more access to the logic. Just curious.

If it is drupal7, you can directly use the hook_block_view_alter and in case of drupal6 just disable the existing block. Create a new block from your module using hook_block and overwrite the same functionalities of existing logic(along with the modifications u need)
