Out of the box, the latest dev doesn't work for me. The save-as-draft checkbox is in the buttons section of the $form. These element's values are not posted.
Putting the checkbox back in the 'options' fieldset' makes it work directly.

Anyway, this module is cool. A good idea, simple, integrated to drupal and it works (almost :) ).
