For some reason, the server is not throwing a 404 when it should be. For example, if I type in http://www.example.com/site1/site1/site1/site1/site1/site1/admin, the admin page is found.

This is expected behavior for symlinks.

I am also facing this issue. Looks like a drupal core problem. Can someone please help on this ?
