I need to provide users with a choice between two different sets of text in order to make it easier for them to use a website I'm developing. The functionality can work the same, but depending on how they categorise themsleves I want to be able to have headings, etc that use words that they will already be familiar with.

I've used the localization module (*) before and I know they could always go to their accunt settings and change the language used later on. But I can't see how this can be tied into their profile so that they are prompted to make a language selection as they create their user account.

Can someone cleverer than me suggest how this might be done??? Is there a way to have a deafult language per role, and for users to selcet a role when they sign-up???
