I would like to request for the twitter module to have the capability for tweets to be searchable (indexed?) via the drupal search engine.

Unless tweets were turned into entities (not sure if there are any plans for that) then the only way to do this would be through views (already available) or through maintaining a search module of some kind (not very likely).
