Thanks!

anthonyR commentedI've been using the Node Blocks module as a replacement for this module in D7. It works like a charm.

1kenthomas commented@anthonyR:
I'll check it out. If it works, then it may be time to retire this module. Thanks.

1kenthomas commentedNode Blocks does not seem to do it, but Nodes in Block seems to cover all functionality of Node as Block and have a D7 version. FWIW, just tried out quickly on one site.

1kenthomas commentedNope, after further testings, nodes as block is not nearly as flexible as node-in-block. NAB makes multiple nodes into a single block, NIB makes a node into a block. Quite different.

anthonyR commented@1kenthomas: Different use cases I agree. But I talked about my use cases of course :)

1kenthomas commented@anthonyR:
I suppose one could say NIB is also much more flexible in some ways :) !
I plan to take over maintenance to fix the admin-theme issues at the least, if no one objects. I'm also for having as few modules as possible, and as much co-operation as possible. Does it seem NIB/NAB are ripe for merger, or best kept for "different use cases?"
Thanks,

jerdavisCould someone more clearly delineate the features of both and where the use cases break down? It seems silly to have so many solutions doing the same thing. Let's perhaps settle on one and put our efforts on filling it's gaps?
A comparison of "Stick node/entity(s) in block(s)" modules would be super awesome. Anyone willing to take that on?

1kenthomas commented@jerdavis:
NAB allows you to "turn a node into a block:" each node creates a corresponding block.
NsIB (note plural) allows you to 'create; blocks and throw (multiple) nodes into them. It isn't particularly good at managing a LOT of Nodes that move around regions, while NAB wouldn't be very good for what it does.
Then there's context [http://drupal.org/project/context] ;), which may be a better solution than both (or which we may need to implement for both).
