Hi folks,

My first post - hopefully a simple question, but I've blown about 3 hours trying to figure it out with no success.

I am using fusion/acquia_marina and have feed.api and blog.api enabled (not sure if needed).
I have my admin account blog listed as 'admin's blog' and likely won't need another.
I didn't want 'admin's blog' to appear on the blog index page, so I used String Overrides and pointed @name's blog to nothing (left it blank).
I have an entry called 'Syndicate' in my list of blocks in acquia_marina/fusion.

I would llke to set up an RSS feed that pulls only the content from my one blog as I add it. I would like to choose the title of the overall blog (make it my site name).
I'd like to add an rss icon to my front page that allows for subscription to the blog. When I use the 'syndicate' option provided in my blocks list, it appears fine but doesn't link to my blog.

I have NO feed item listed in my content types. I created one (after installing feed.api) and got the rss icon on my specific blog page but it created a separate (duplicate) entry for my blog. Thus my 'recent blog entries' block showed the same post twice - once in it's original form and once as part of the feed I created.

And, if you're feeling super generous, I'd like to kill the overall blog index page - or at least hide it from use. Now in my 'recent blog posts' block, it lists my 'admin' posts and then says 'more'. If more is clicked, it shows the overall blog index which still lists my blog as 'admin blog'. I'd like 'more' to point directly to the 'user' page for my blog in which I've successfully killed the title 'admin blog'.

Sorry if poorly worded question. I'll be happy to clarify any and all info.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Joe

If you're just trying to have a single blog with a specific feed, you don't need feedapi, blog, or blogapi. Either use the core 'story' content type or create one just for your blog items, and use views to create the feed (display type = feed).

Hi,

Well..my knowledge is spotty. I don't know how to do what you are suggesting. Can add a view. See how to add the display type feed from the drop down menu. Not sure where to go from there.

Will keep at it.

P.S. Is your name a song title?

The RSS icon now appears on the bottom of the blog index page. When I click to subscribe, it offers the blog, but still shows as 'admin's blog'. The string override only takes the title out of the top of the blog index page. Anyone know how to change the name from 'admin's blog' to something custom?

What you need to do is go into your profile and change your username. It probably is admin, am I right? You have to change your username to whatever you want your blog to be named. It pulls the username and adds " 's blog" to it. So "My Website Administration"'s Blog. So if you change your username to Billy Bob, it will show Billy Bob's Blog.
