Dear handsome, hardworking and under-appreciated D.O. webmasters,
I posted this story - "Giant Drupal icon lights up Sydney Harbour Bridge" - at http://drupal.org/node/1044906 .
Dries tweeted about my post and linked to it a few hours ago (he was there when the event happened), unfortunately the story's associated image - which is killer and really sells the whole thing - doesn't show up (since I don't have that user privilege).
Could you please unlock the code that's already there to display the external image asap? Or better still, copy the external image (see attached jpg) to the D.O. file system and display it from there? (And can we give the image a paragraph all to itself without any text wrapping around it, rather than aligning it right?)
I'm an ex-advertising type and I assure you that this thing has great potential to get attention for Drupal out in the big wide world, as well as, of course, put a smile on the face of many Drupal supporters. But to work properly it needs the picture asap.
Also, can you please consider promoting the story to the front page some time very soon?

dave reidSo...is there an actual picture of the Druplicon on the bridge?

gregglesI don't see the original story. We should link to it if we can.
I don't even see the Sydney Daily Gazette http://www.google.com/search?q=Sydney+Daily+Gazette ?

gdemetWhile awesome, the veracity of this report seems questionable to me. +1 for adding the image, -1 for promoting it to the home page.

Matto commentedThanks for unlocking the picture so quickly folks!
@greggles and @gdemet - this is a guerilla marketing exercise. There's no original story, the Gazette doesn't exist, it didn't happen. But the reaction you guys had is what we want to happen in the first instance - it generates discussion. But people will cotton on soon enough. Please just let it play for a while and see what happens. The hope is that this will get some traction outside the Drupal community - now that the image is up I'll use my contacts to get it out on the interweb - feel free to do the same.
My apologies if you feel mis-informed or blind-sided, this is an unusual opportunity and I don't know D.O. protocol - it's been a big effort just to get to this point and corners may have been cut in the pursuit of timeliness. The Drude is on board with this.

gregglesOK. Given the backstory I'm -1 on promoting it for now.

gdemetYeah, this a creative idea, and it looks like is a lot of fun, but I think we should avoid promoting fake stories via official channels such as drupal.org. Marking as won't fix.
