I have a shared server subscription to dreamhost, and most of my details will be dreamhost specific, but it is my hope that others can benefit from my experiences by using the information I provide.

I think you will find it difficult to use a shared server. What you could try is to route the incoming mail through procmail if your host provides this. Outgoing mail would be sent normally.

Be aware that many hosters have limitations onhow many mails you can send per hour.
