Hi there,
I run a sandbox test and created a project. I tagged the commit with "7.x-1.0", but I can't figure out how to add a release. Any hint?

eliza411 commentedSandbox projects are experimental and in order to create a release, a sandbox must be promoted to a full project. There's more detail at http://drupal.org/node/1011196
If you edit your sandbox, and promote your project (a link in the Project information fieldset) then you'll have release functionality.

Schneck commentedThat means, that I can only test the full functionality of the new git system if i create public readable dummy projects?

franskuipers commentedYes, create public readable projects.
The git-dev-drupal.org server is rebuild every 2 days, then all your test projects or sandboxes are gone.

eliza411 commentedSandboxes are public-readable, too. They're just not easy to download. If you're interested, the conversation about sandbox visibility can be found at #1031578: [Meta] Reflect a consistent strategy for sandbox visibility

webchickI've opened an issue at #1048848: Add back "Downloads" heading and explain sandbox projects only available through Git for making this behaviour more obvious to people. However, this is working as designed.
