I've been starting to feel like the NodeOne planet feed (http://drupal.org/aggregator/sources/492) is a little out of control. Every three days a new short post is published about a screencast in a learning series. Since each post really has little digestible content for anyone to read on the Planet or feed readers themselves, they're essentially just click-through posts. Mind you, I don't have problem with the content on NodeOne itself, I think they're very useful. But I don't think the way they're getting aggregated here is useful to our community. It would be nice if the posts could be consdensed into "Hey, here's our cool screencast series about learning Rules. Here's all the topics we covered and you'll learn about. [more sentences or paragraphs about the series that is useful to get more context about it]" I'm also not advocating any removal of NodeOne from the Planet. I just wanted to see if anyone agreed with me and we could start reaching out to NodeOne to help improve the content.

TBarregren commentedNodeOne was founded by open source enthusiasts, myself included, and we have always cherished the idea that NodeOne should be a good citizen. With "good citizen" we mean that NodeOne must adhere to both spoken and unspoken rules of the free and open source world in general and the Drupal community in particular.
We therefore encourage employees to use part of their time to contribute in various ways. It may be answering in forums, contributing patches, developing modules, or indeed to make screencasts.
Another result of our wish to be a good citizen is that we are sensitive for others opinion and want to meet them with respect. So when Dave Reid, a respected member of the Drupal community, express concern for how we use our Drupal Planet feed, we take that seriously.
For us, our participation in the community is so important that we have created a council that supports employees and management in community matters. The council consist of heyrocker, Isabell, Itangalo, pontus_nilsson and solipsist — who all are highly respected NodeOne employees. When I saw Dave's post, I asked them for their input. They said it would be a good idea to take Dave's suggestion to heart and compress these posts. We have therefore decided to implement following policy for NodeOne's Drupal Planet feed:
It is my hope that this address Dave's (and others) concerns.

burt.lo commentedThanks for your thoughtful response, TBarregren. I appreciate all you, and the rest at nodeOne, have so generously contributed.

oadaeh commentedAlthough my vote doesn't hold any sway, I like Thomas' proposal. Personally, I have been waiting for the Rules series to end so that I can get it all in one chunk (although I now think it's going to be too much for one sitting), and a "Hey, we're starting..." post followed by a "Hey, we're done with..." post sounds like a good compromise. Also, that way I'd actually know when the series was done, rather than realizing it's been three weeks since I had seen one of the posts announcing the next in the series.

dave reid#2 sounds good. I noticed that Chris Shattuck is doing the same thing - using a compressed post for the entire series - http://chrisshattuck.com/blog/need-learn-how-work-drupal-7-file-api-chec...
An intro post about the series, maybe a midway progress post (and stuff we've learned so far and links to screencasts so far), and then a final post with links to all the screencasts sounds good!

dave reidProposal sounds good to me, so I'm marking this as fixed. I would like to thank everyone at NodeOne for being so attentive and responsible to a very minor issue.
