RC is out and a compatible version of this module would be nice.
Any chance anyone has been working on it? Any patches yet?

If porting is straightforward I could work on a patch with some guidance...

Hey Phil, I've posted a extensive revamp of textimage (issue 107897) which is fully Drupal 5 compatible. However I've opened a separate issue for the revamp because it deals more with changing the functionality of textimage than simply porting to Drupal 5. However, it should fully update an existing 4.7 installation and preform captcha challenges exactly as before.
