We are using the fileshare.module v1.18.
We want the authenticated user able to download the file only while these users cannot change any node information. But when we only enabled the download permission on the fileshare, user is not authorized to access this page. just show

"Access denied"
You are not authorized to access this page.

If we grant the administer node permission of node modules on the user role, it can access now.

If this is the requirement for fileshare, It will cause all authenticated user have power to edit all node on the site.

I'm unable to duplicate the problem. With the settings in the attached png you can have users download but not modify the fileshare... perhaps you could post all your access control settings?

I am having the same problem. Cannot download files with my permissions set as described in the attached file. I get a "Denied Access - You are not authorized to access this page." error message.
