While Solr is very easy to get running initially, there are quirks to using it in different OSs or with different packages. Child pages here describe tips for getting running in specific circumstances, and for configuing multiple search cores on one server.

In all of the below instructions please note the version of Apache Solr they are written against. At the time of this update Solr is on version 4! Version 4 differs greatly from previous versions. Be aware of this fact. Currently there is not HOWTO written against version 4.x of Solr.
