Google couldn't tell me the answer to this simple question. I'm trying to debug an issue and I need to check which module is causing it. I want to just disable them, but I have all these settings I don't want to lose! Will I lose the settings I created in a module if I disable it?

For most modules, you will only lose settings if you uninstall (by visiting the uninstall tab from the modules page). Disabling it will not compromise your settings.
