Official module from Automattic, the creators of Akismet.

There is now an official Akismet module from Automattic. This module will no longer be maintained and all users of it are encouraged to migrate to the official module.

Important: The new module has a different project name ("akismet_antispam") but the same machine name ("akismet") as this one. This means you can not have both modules present at the same time in a Drupal installation. Uninstall and remove this module from a site before installing the new module. See #3615294 for next steps.

Used by millions of websites, Akismet filters out hundreds of millions of spam comments from the Web every day. Add Akismet to your site so you don't have to worry about spam again.

Although it is best known from the WordPress world, Akismet is a web service and can be used from any system to check content for spamminess. With this module, you can use it to filter comments on your Drupal site.

There is port of the Akismet module to Backdrop CMS from the Drupal 7 version, maintained by nubeli. If anyone is interested in contributing—by reporting issues, providing Pull Requests, testing, providing documentation, or co-maintaining—visit the project page on Github.
