I've stumbled on the meetu games platform and I am stunned!

I work for a charity that get business volunteers involved in schools, and this often involves visits to businesses and universities / hospitals and other places that may inspire students to raise aspirations.

I can imagine using meetu to form games - students running around fulfilling missions - sounds like fun!

It is also a lot to get to grips with and I am the sort of person who learns by example - is there anyone out there who has used it and could share experiences and share examples of the way games were organised and examples of missions - they don't have to be directly relevant, I', good at spotting principles and applying them.

Whee! It is nice to be excited!

Hello again Myles. I'm glad to hear you like the software -- we really worked hard to ensure its quality.

It's interesting that you note charities and schools. We have discussed using meetü for these purposes, and even used a precursor to meetü to connect new students at an RIT orientation program.

I definitely understand your frustration in learning how to best apply the software -- I also learn by example. A few resources I can immediately point you to:

Thank you very much for your response and your gentle teaching! I appreciate both, and I am sorry that i have missed them until now... another point to learn.

No need to be sorry. Technology should be built for people, not the other way around. If the Drupal website didn't do enough to notify you of this post, blame the Drupal website. :-)

Hah! That's great! I am so very tired tonight, but thought I'd take a quick peep anyway - and even in this state I get it!

We can certainly use this - it will take me a while to set things up both in the World of Technology and in the World of Schools and Business, but we can certainly make some great things happen with it. We have many children in this city who have very limited aspirations and very limited understanding of what is out there for them. Happily the business community seem to be growing their sense of altruism and social engagement.

Hi John - you asked me to keep you posted on progress.

Working with schools is slow, but plans are moving ahead. We have at least one school that is giving us entire year groups - 100 year 7's (11-12 years old) and 150 year 8's (12-13 years old) for entire days up to 6 times a year and other schools lining up behind.

We're not planning Meetü games, in mass, each time, but would like to hold games at least once in each group and also to use the cards / sitckers / registration thing to help build a portfolio of evidence of involvement with various activities we run - meetü without it being a day of games.

We have a pool of businesses ready to take part and we have the basis for a number of 'exhibits' and encounters that we can pull together into missions.

So it is all currently fuzzy but shaping up nicely - we've overcome major hurdles (ensuring there are people to play with!) and we are now looking to move into the detailed design of missions and the implementation of the platform.

Soooo... are you still developing the platform or have you moved onto other things? I notice that the profile has not moved on for a while and the modules in the package are somewhat in need of updating.

I am not currently working for the Open Publishing Lab (the group that sponsored this module), so I unfortunately cannot speak to the direction of this project. I will forward this note onto the OPL, assuming they haven't seen it already.
