When using a view to generate a location gmap, it would be useful to first check taxonomy terms for the marker type and fall back to node type if none is found. This seems to be how the default node view does it, but it looks to have custom SQL.

A quick patch to illustrate this is attached. I added an option to the "Marker handling" dropdown as a combination of nodetype and taxonomy.

I believe this functionality is included in current versions with the GMAP Taxonomy module.

Please reopen this against the latest dev release if you are still experiencing the problem.
