With the change of Page/Story being default CCK type nodes in 5.0 the ability to be able to disable a Content Type is highly needed. Currently I can rename the type, change the type workflow, delete the type but I cannot simply disable the type. Being able to disable the type allows the user to leave the type visible in the Content Type configuration while not making it visible in the Create Content selection. I've marked this as critical because IMO once 5.0 becomes live there will be a several complaints in this area.

Boris Mann CreditAttribution: Boris Mann commentedAnd I'm setting this to "Fixed". Remove access to create or edit that content type for all users and it won't show up except for user ID = 1. This meets your goal of not making it visible in the Create Content section
(which, BTW, I never ever use on a production site, but re-arrange the menu links so there are direct, customized menu links -- e.g. "create new static page" links to node/add/page)
