Can creating a content type (blog post) also create a new topic in a forum?

I'd like to aggregate comments made to a content type within a forum container. ie:

1. User creates a new blog post. Simultaneously a new forum thread is created within a container in the forum
2. When users comment to the blog post, the comments would become responses to the forum thread. Similarly, when users reply to the forum thread, comments would be added to the blog post.

Is there a way to do this in Drupal? Views, cck, etc?
