Subtotal doesn't always play nice with discounts

With a discount system installed like uc_discounts_alt or the gift certificate module the subtotal can sometimes end up being less than 0 which causes linkpoint to return an error saying that it's an invalid subtotal amount. A better way to get the subtotal is straight from the line item, rather than trying to re-calculate it.
